Class Hoober Page!
Welcome to the Class Hoober page! On this page you will find regular updates and photographs of the activities and learning that we have been undertaking throughout the academic year.
This term our topic is...
Graffiti: Street art or vandalism?
During this topic, we are going to explore this question by looking at famous graffiti artists around the world. We will also discuss whether or not we believe that graffiti is a form of art or is actually more damaging to the environment it is found it! During this topic we will produce ideas related to graffiti in our sketchbooks before creating a final piece of artwork in this theme!
This year our PE lesson will be held on a Tuesday afternoon. Please can you ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit. They will wear their kit all day and leave in it at the end of the day. This is so we can minimise risks in the current COVID pandemic. I would recommend checking the weather the day before to ensure they are wearing appropriate PE kit.
The children will participate in an outdoor PE lesson unless the weather becomes too extreme to complete outdoors. It would be recommended that pupils have a T-shirt and shorts in case they become wet during the lesson.
Required PE kit:
A blue team Elsecar PE T-shirt;
A pair of black shorts, PE skirt or Skort;
A pair of tracksuit bottoms and a top for outdoor use;
A pair of trainers suitable for the playground and field.
Please can you ensure you are reading with your child on a regular basis. We ideally would like them to be reading every day. This can be a mix of independently or with an adult. We ask that you write in a comment regarding how you feel their child has coped with the book they are reading.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, we are asking that pupils try to change their books on Monday, Wednesday and Friday because we need to ensure we are as socially distant as possible from other bubbles in school.
Any books returned are being quarantined for 48 hours before going back into stock.
If your child reads any e-books on the Scholastic Reading Pro website, this should be written in their reading records also.
Reading for pleasure!
We greatly encourage reading for pleasure. Therefore if your child is reading anything which is not their own school reading book, we ask they write in what it is they're reading and how they are enjoying this book.
Suggested reading list for Year Six!
Below we have added a downloadable reading checklist for each year group. These checklist provide you with the top fifty recommended reads for your year group. We think this is a brilliant way to get your child to read a wider range of literature. It is ideal for birthday present ideas and stocking fillers for Christmas! We hope you like them!
