Uniform Policy

Our policy for children’s school uniform is based on the belief that a uniform promotes a sense of pride in the school and engenders a feeling of community and belonging. It is practical, looks smart and identifies the children with the school. It is not distracting in class (as fashion clothes might be) makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance and is regarded as suitable.

It is our policy that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning ethos. We also believe it is important that certain activities are facilitated by specialised and appropriate clothing when attending school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours.

We provide a complete list of the items needed for children’s school uniform in this policy and in our parent handbook.
Our school colours are royal blue, white and grey and the uniform is as follows:

Our policy does also include that children should not have “extreme” haircuts for school as these can cause a significant distraction and they are not permitted when they move up to secondary school.
School also ask that hair accessories should be kept to a minimum with hair tied back with a simple bobble or hair grips and not the larger style of headband etc.

Earrings must be removed for P.E and swimming – please note that staff cannot remove or replace earrings for children and plasters are no longer allowed due to health and safety reasons. Children should not be allowed to do P.E if they have earrings in.
Jewellery, other than a sensible watch and plain stud earrings, should not be worn and pupils should not wear make-up, including nail varnish and temporary tattoos for school. Can parents also ensure children do not come to school with a fake-tan on.

Pupils who come into school in items other than stated on the dress code will in the first instance be reminded by an adult in school as to the appropriate dress, in the second instance will have a reminder letter sent home with them and on the third occasion parents may be asked to take their child home so that they may change into the correct school uniform.

We also ask that mobile phones and other expensive items are not brought into school. All clothing and footwear should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.

All uniform with the school logo can be ordered from Vortex Clothing

Pre-owned Uniform

The cost of school uniform can be a burden to parents, yet many children grow out of their uniform

long before it reaches the end of its life.
A poll by Sainsbury’s revealed that a child will wear an average of 480 items of uniform clothing over the course of their school days and that parents will spend about £6,000 in total on school uniform. Offering a second-hand uniform service in school helps parents with the cost of uniform, while at the same time raising money for the school and keeping perfectly usable items out of landfill.

As a school, we have a selection of uniform that can be purchased from the school office for a nominal charge. All proceeds are used to purchase additional items to help support our families.
